Looking for a Louise Brooks film on DVD or Blu-ray? Among Brooks' available films, here are my recommendations for the best available copies of the actress' films in the United States. Notably, the Kino Lorber edition of Diary of a Lost Girl also includes the 1931 Brooks' short, Windy Riley Goes Hollywood (as well as an audio commentary by LBS director Thomas Gladysz), while the the Criterion edition of Pandora's Box includes the documentary, Louise Brooks: Looking for Lulu.
I do not recommend most of the other discs you might come across as they are, generally speaking, of lesser quality. A number of Brooks' films are likewise available in Europe and elsewhere. As titles and formats differ around the world, fans should check online sites in their own country
for films like
La Canarina Assassinata or
Lulu /
LouLou.
A near complete checklist of all manner of Louise Brooks releases (VHS, Laser Disc, DVD and Blu-ray) can be found on the Louise Brooks Society website
