One hundred years ago today -- on July 21, 1926 -- Louise Brooks married director Eddie Sutherland in New York City; the ceremony was performed by Deputy Clerk William McCormick at the city’s Municipal Building. Brooks and Sutherland met earlier in the year during the filming It's the Old Army Game. Sutherland was the film's director.
This was big news in movie circles. Articles appeared in many American newspapers, as well as on the front page of the New York Daily News the following day.

Of course, things didn't work out and the two filed for divorce a couple of years a later....
